A psychologist has shared a warning about the ‘physiological effects’ when raw-dogging on a flight.

As far as TikTok trends go - this has to be one of the worst.

And despite the term ‘raw-dogging’ sounding completely vulgar, it might not involve as much activity as you would first presume.

In fact, it involves zero activity - for the entire flight.

That’s right, once you have boarded the plane, there should be no books, magazines, phones, menus, music, or podcasts.

You can’t even eat or drink, which quite frankly, sounds like a really bad idea.

One woman who recently broke her raw-dogging virginity claimed she ‘burst into tears’ following the traumatic four-hour experience - which involved doing absolutely nothing but staring straight ahead the entire time.

A psychologist has now revealed exactly what can happen if you dare to try out the viral trend, but it turns out that the effects might not be as bad as they first feel.

Speaking on behalf of AltIndex, psychologist Dr Lalitaa Suglani explained: “Enduring a flight without any form of entertainment can have a mix of psychological and physiological effects.

“Initially, it might seem daunting due to the heavy reliance we have on digital devices and constant stimulation.

“The absence of these distractions can lead to increased awareness of discomfort, boredom, and even anxiety as the mind grapples with the void.”

Providing some insight into how you can find the mental strength to give it a try, she added that it’s important to remember it is just a ‘short-term experience’.

Despite the symptoms you may experience during ‘raw-dogging’, such as ‘painful ringing’ in your ears, or feeling ‘delirious’, the psychologist explained that there can be some positive benefits of being totally unstimulated.

She said: “While it [raw-dogging] can provide a glimpse into the benefits of going without constant stimulation, its impact may be limited because it's a one-time event rather than a sustained practice.

“True benefits come from regularly incorporating periods of mindfulness and self-reflection into daily life.”

According to the expert, some of the benefits include:

Mindfulness and presence

Dr Suglani explained: “Going without entertainment can be an opportunity to practise mindfulness, paying attention to the present moment without distraction.

“This can lead to a deeper sense of calm and presence.”

Enhanced creativity

“Without constant input from external sources, the mind has a chance to wander and generate new ideas, enhancing creativity,” the psychologist noted.

Self-reflection

Dr Suglani said: “Periods without distraction can provide valuable time for self-reflection, allowing individuals to process thoughts and emotions they might otherwise ignore.”

Perhaps it’s time to give raw-dogging a shot?
