Sex and the City fans are paying tribute to fashion journalist André Leon Talley after the former US Vogue editor-at-large under Anna Wintour died on Tuesday at the age of 73.
Talley was an iconic figure in the world of fashion, known for his sharp comments and critiques, which made him perfect for a cameo in the 2008 Sex and the City film.
Fans will remember Talley is present during Carrie’s Vogue photo shoot for which she modeled number of designer wedding gowns ahead of tying the knot with Mr. Big.
Talley was still working as editor-at-large at US Vogue when the film as released in 2008, which makes his cameo all the more believable. He remained in the role until 2013.
Though the audience don't get to hear Talley speak during his scenes, he can be spotted sitting behind-the-scenes at Carrie’s glamorous shoot.
He applies the finishing touches to her Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera and Christian LaCroix garments by helping her put on her opera gloves.
He also helps Carrie pose in a chic white Dior gown, and we must say the whole shoot looked stunning then and even more so now.
A Sex and the City fashion account on Instagram, @everyoutfitonsatc, posted a picture of André’s cameo with the caption: “André Leon Talley lived and breathed fashion.
"He was eccentric, he was undeniably fabulous, and he was an incredible intellect who possessed a knowledge of clothing and culture that absolutely cannot be replaced.
"We are all so fortunate to have witnessed his brilliance. R.I.P. to this beautiful man, who inspired so many.”
Paper magazine fashion editor Mario Abad said: “He even coached SJP on how to pose authentically for this bridal shoot. RIP to the absolute blueprint.”
