ITV viewers who tuned into new police drama DI Ray this week are already trying to get to the bottom of detective Rachita's new case - and they've got their eyes on someone in particular.
The four-part series, which started on Monday night, follows detective inspector Rachita Ray (Parminder Nagra), who has just joined a homicide investigation. But when she learns the killing has been labelled as a 'culturally specific homicide', she suspects she was only promoted to the role because of her ethnicity.
Determined to prove herself, DI Ray joins the case anyway, but this investigation could be a lot more dangerous than she anticipated. Check out the trailer here:
After episode two aired on Tuesday night, viewers grew suspicious when Rachita began to face deadly threats from someone trying to keep her off the case.

First receiving a swift knock to the head when she tried to meet with the girlfriend of the victim Anjuli Kapoor, and then almost being drowned in her own bath when someone breaks into her home, it's clear someone is out to get DI Ray.
Fans were immediately wary of Rachita's police partner and fiancé Martyn Hunter (Jamie Bamber), suspecting that he might be a dirty cop.
While Martyn is clearly head over heels in love with Rachita, some viewers think it could all be too good to be true.
Whoever is after Rachita, they clearly don't want her dead or they would have killed her already. It looks like they want to scare her off just enough to part ways with the ever-growing case.

Taking to Twitter to exchange theories, one viewer wrote: "#DIRay Really enjoying this.Anyone else think her fiance is involved?"
Similarly, a second tweeted: "Anyone else think it’s the fiancé …. Or just me?! #DIRay"
A third enthralled fan added: "I dunno what you guys are doing over at @ITV but you keep smashing it with these dramas and the fiancé deffo has something to do with it."

Pointing out that the ITV drama was written by the same person who brought us Line Of Duty, another viewer wrote: "Definitely thinking that her fiance is a dodgy copper and involved in this somehow ... it is written by Jed Mercurio after all!"
Putting the theory together, one Twitter user suggested: "#DIRay that was totally the fiance trying to drown her, he knows his fingerprints will be everywhere anyway and will probably be quickly overlooked."

However, some viewers aren't so sure and think Martyn could be a good guy after all.
One tweeted: "I think it's a red herring to throw us viewers off and he's just an overprotective boyfriend. It'll be too obvious otherwise haha".
So, who is behind these 'culturally specific homicides', and why do they want DI Ray off the case?
DI Ray continues at 9pm tonight on ITV.
