Fans have nothing but the highest of praise for Emma Thompson after learning the actress will brave a full-frontal nude scene for her latest film Good Luck to You, Leo Grande.
The upcoming comedy, which has just made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, tells the story of middle-aged widow Nancy, who decides to hire a sex worker for some sexual gratification after years of disappointing relations with her late husband.
Emma's latest film has been met with raving reviews, and many are even calling for an Oscar nomination for the 62-year-old actress.
Following the film's release, Emma confessed that she really struggled with her full frontal nudity scene.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the scene, which involves Emma's character standing in front of a mirror and dropping her robe to look at herself, Emma said: It's very challenging to be nude at 62.
"I don't think I could've done it before the age that I am. And yet, of course, the age that I am makes it extremely challenging because we aren't used to seeing untreated bodies on screen."
It's safe to say that, despite her fears, Emma Thompson gave the performance of a lifetime and fans can see it as clear as day.
Those who tuned in to the new release were blown away, and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
"The thing you need to understand is that Emma Thompson continues to be an absolute treasure," commented one fan.
"Just watched #GoodLucktoYouLeoGrande and it’s #EmmaThompson ‘s bravest role today and a sign the matriarchy has finally arrived. Both actors were brave and wonderful," wrote another.
"“Full Frontal Emma Thompson” was not the takeaway I expected from #sundance22 but it’s hard not to love that she went and made a sweet and semi radical sex positive chamber piece like #GoodLucktoYouLeoGrande at 62," added a third.
Other fans are calling for Emma Thompson to be added as a late addition to this year's Oscar nominations.
One tweeted: "Emma Thompson will undoubtedly get her next Oscar nomination for GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE. You’ve never seen her like this."
Another added: "If there was an Oscar for bravery Emma Thompson should win it for GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE."
Now, this is a campaign we can definitely get behind!
