One detail that has caught the attention and sparked the imaginations is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glimpse at a tarot card that reads ‘death’.

While the tarot card itself is extremely foreboding and the final season has been littered with references to death, fans are convinced that the tarot card may hint at a more hopeful outcome for the two main characters.
After the release of the 13-second trailer by BBC America, fans took to Twitter to share their theories.
It turns out that many people are convinced that the death tarot card doesn’t mean the pair will die, but ‘death’ could reference the end of their current lives before starting a new one.

In relation to this theory, lots of viewers believe the clue is way too obvious to be true.
“That death card in the #killingeve promo is funny,” one fan began.
“Y’all know the death card doesn’t necessarily mean someone’s death, right? It just means end of something and a major change in someone’s life.

“I mean, one [or] both villaneve are probably dying but I refuse to believe they are”.
Similarly, another fan wrote: “Seeing the Death card in the promo for Killing Eve I am 100% convinced they aren't dying.
“I see an end to the lives they've been living and something new starting. But V and Eve may end up parting ways too. And maybe that's why Jodie & Sandra don't like the ending much.”

A third Twitter user reflected on the tarot card with reference to all the death references in the fourth season. “S4: shrouded in death imagery: the funeral promo pics, R.I.P. Killing Eve, the death tarot card once again they’re leaning into the fear so they can end by giving the audience what they are hoping for: v and eve alive.”
While someone else theorised: “Just saw someone say 'killing eve' means eve killing her old self and becoming who she truly is and i feel like it fits so well especially having the death tarot card clip in the finale promo LIIIIIKE”.
Other Killing Eve fanatics were left feeling scared by the tarot card in the teaser. One person tweeted: “why is no one talking about the fact that there’s a scene in the new killing eve trailer where we can see a “death” tarot card ?? i’m scared hello.”
