The 27-year-old ‘Italian snack’ asked the 19-year-old about her thoughts regarding their age difference.
Davide asked: “What do you think about the fact I’m much older than you? You not bothered about that?”
Gemma replied: “No it’s not an issue for me at all. I feel like if it was I wouldn’t have wanted to get to know you in the first place and as I’ve said I’ve been speaking to guys and seeing guys.”
Davide interrupted and said: "…who are much older than you?”

Gemma agreed, continuing: “Yeah, so it’s not something that I'm not used to or you’re the only one or anything like that. It's very normal for me. I feel like for you, is it an issue?”
Davide quickly responded: “For me, it’s not an issue about age. I actually say sometimes maybe you’re more mature than me!"
Ever since Davide entered the villa and started 'getting to know' Gemma, the couple's age gap has been a very divisive topic of conversation.

Before Davide's decision for his first recoupling was broadcasted at the end of Tuesday's (7 June) episode, the public took to Twitter to list all the reasons why they believed the Islanders should not be together, with most people call out their eight-year age gap.
One social media user even claimed they would 'file a complaint with OFCOM' if Gemma recoupled with someone over 25 years of age.
While 10 of the new islanders coupled up at the start of the first episode – as chosen by the public – Davide entered the villa later that day, wowing pretty much all of the girls.

He chose to couple up with Gemma which led to debates on social media surrounding age gaps in relationships.
However other fans have been defending the couple, however, with many seeing no issue with the age gap.
