Former Love Island star Shaughna Phillips has revealed that islanders are forced to sleep in same-sex couples when the cameras stop rolling on Fridays.
Phillips shot to fame during the sixth series of the popular ITV2 show and has now lifted the lid on the show’s behind-the-scenes secrets, addressing speculation that Islanders get to leave the villa on Saturdays.
In a new interview, the 28-year-old explained that while older seasons got to go to the beach, the show has got too big for them to be let out now.

Instead, Phillips revealed that their downtime is usually the time of the week they do their laundry, but interestingly Islanders are asked not to talk about the villa’s going-ons as the cameras turn off.
"So you kind of stop filming on a Friday - and then on Friday afternoon you can do your laundry, stuff like that,” she told OK!’s Let's Chat, Hun Instagram live.
"It’s when you relax, you can kind of chill out. Sometimes they’d give you inflatables in the pool and stuff - but you’re not allowed to talk about anything that’s going on, or anything like that."

And while viewers are used to seeing the couples share the same bed, Phillips revealed that they are asked not to sleep in their pairs on Friday nights for fear producers will miss a racy rendezvous.
She shared: "You have to sleep in like, same sex couples that night, so they don’t miss anything, and then you start filming again on Saturday afternoon."
Elsewhere, Love Island fans were left convinced that this year's contestants, Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, will get back together, especially after he unveiled one tantalising dance move which not only excited his former flame but also viewers at home.

The challenge sees the contestants try to raise each other's heart rates by dressing up in various different costumes and performing cheeky dances.
Davide, who was dressed as Zorro, left fans in shock and a little hot under the collar after he opened Ekin-Su's legs and leaned in for a seductive kiss.
"Ekin-Su lost all composure when Davide spread her legs open," one fan tweeted during the episode.
A second wrote: "When Davide spread Ekin-Su’s legs and she HELPED HIM."

Davide and Ekin-Su have had a complicated journey in the villa so far. The 27-year-old business owner from Rome and the Turkish actress, also 27, were coupled up earlier in the series however things went awry when Ekin-Su explored her feelings for Jay Younger.
Ekin-Su crawled on her hands and knees to the terrace for a secret kiss with Jay and after Davide found out, he called her a 'liar' and an 'actress'.
Although the pair are now on friendly terms, and after Davide stated he does not plan to rekindle his romance with Ekin-Su many of the other Islanders - and viewers at home - have noticed a lingering connection between the two.
