Married At First Sight expert Paul C Brunson has hit back at viewers who think this year's matchmaking has been 'all wrong'.
Fans have been airing their frustration at this season of the bizarre reality dating show, after watching relationship experts Paul, Mel, and Charlene put some pretty incompatible couples together.
Between dad-of-four George being coupled up with April, who said from the get-go that she didn't want children, and hardcore vegan Jenna being matched with meat-lover Zoe, some of this year's MAFS pairings have definitely been... questionable.

"Anyone else feel the experts have got it all wrong this time?" asked one viewer. "Not enough homework done, couple[s] turn out to be opposites. Taken away [the] chance for others to be in it... Can see most of the couples are only on it for fame."
Tweeting some similar sentiments, another irritated fan complained: "'Experts' matching a vegan with a meat-eater, a father of four with someone who doesn't want kids, a man who likes slim women with a (very beautiful) but not slim woman. This is not about matching people, it's a televised blood sport."
After facing weeks of criticism, Paul has finally broken his silence and responded to confused viewers.

"In terms of the matching process I see a lot of critique on why people are matched and are we not asking certain questions," he told OK! magazine.
"April and George for example, George has four kids and April said she didn't want children, but April never said she didn’t want to be a parent, she said she didn’t want to bear a child so it’s different.
"We’re matching them based on all sorts of different things."

Paul also took the opportunity to share his thoughts on the latest shocking twist in the series that caused so much drama they had to stop filming.
While the people involved haven't yet been revealed, it's been revealed that two contestants on this year's season have been cheating on their spouses, leading to a total filming shut-down and a shock wife-swap.
"All I can say is that it was honestly the most wild swap,” said Paul.
“So much so that it was a challenge for myself, Charlene and Mel. We debated it for a long time.

"We had even stopped filming before the scene because we were still debating it out, so the scene was delayed because we were discussing letting them carry on."
It hasn't been confirmed just yet which couples were wrapped up in the cheating scandal, but fans suspect that it involves Whitney and Matt, who were married to Duka and Gemma.
Married At First Sight will continue on Monday 26 September at 9pm on E4.
