While it is technically a kids' film, if viewer reactions are anything to go by, it's so good that it can be enjoyed by both adults and kids alike.
Praising the film on Twitter, one viewer quoted the film: "'They are heroes. But they can be wrong too.' -The Sea Beast (2022)
"What I actually love about animated films are the subtle messages they teach adults, more than to kids."
A second praised it more generally, writing: "I'd really recommend parents & teachers to watch The Sea Beast on @netflix & consider watching it with children.

"It's stunningly beautiful and such a wonderful story. Our family loved it, kids and adults alike."
"The Sea Beast is a welcome surprise," praised a fifth. "In a summer of CG-animated sequels and spin-offs, here's something original that'll delight kids without talking down to them while adult viewers will also be entertained. More movies where Marianne Jean-Baptiste is a gruff pirate please."
"I probably would've watched this movie like 100 times as a kid," praised another viewer. "As an adult there’s more than enough here for a swashbuckling good time."
