Speculation about Steve potentially dying has been swirling since the first volume of season four dropped last month.
Steve has been a fan favourite ever since the character made his debut in the first season in 2016. In season four, he was pulled into the upside down and bitten by a bat, leading to fans expressing their fears that this could ultimately be a death sentence.
"Was I the only holding my breath whenever steve was in danger cause I thought he was gonna die," one Twitter user shared at the time.

Robin Buckley is also loved by many and has been one of the main characters in the sci-fi drama after she was introduced in season three in 2019.
Actress Maya Hawke portrays the Hawkins High School student, following her starring role in 2017 BBC adaptation of Little Women. In her debut screen role, Maya portrayed the main character, Jo March.
Stranger Things season four has been split into two separate volumes. The first featured seven episodes and volume two will have two feature length episodes. It will be released on Netflix on 1 July.
