The author tweeted: "The rumours are true. Netflix is thrilled that so many of you have been watching Sandman, and the thing we were all hoping would happen... has indeed happened..."

So, what can fans expect to see from the second season of The Sandman?
Well, when we first left Dream (played by Tom Sturridge) and his friends, Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie) had quite literally unleashed the forces of hell to march against the Dreaming.
Lucifer had, very ominously, threatened to do "something that I have never done before. Something that will make God absolutely livid and bring Morpheus to his knees."

The next instalment of the series is set to explore all of the challenges facing this universe following the century-long absence of Morpheus.
Teasing what might be in store for the next season, Neil Gaiman said: "There are some astonishing stories waiting for Morpheus and the rest of them (not to mention more members of the Endless Family to meet).
"Nobody is going to be happier about this than the Sandman cast and crew: They are the biggest Sandman fans there are.
"And now it’s time to get back to work. There’s a family meal ahead, after all. And Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to Hell…"
