If you watched The Weekend Away this week, you were likely shook by the unexpected twist at the end of the movie.
The film, based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Alderson and starring Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester, dropped on Netflix this week.
It follows Beth, who agrees to a long-awaited weekend away in Croatia with her best friend Kate. But when, after a boozy night out, Beth wakes up in her apartment alone, she's left to unravel the night's events - including how Kate went missing.

Tragically, when a body is discovered not far from their apartment, Kate is revealed to be dead.
While Beth desperately wants to get home to her husband Rob and their baby girl Aster in London, she refuses to leave until she finds out who murdered her best friend.
To make things worse, Beth also finds out that Rob and Kate had been having an affair, after she reads messages on Kate's phone.

While there are a number of characters in the movie who could be responsible - for example the creepy AirBnb host who installs cameras in guests' bedrooms - it's eventually unveiled at the end of the movie that police inspector, Pavic is to blame. After an altercation with Beth he ends up falling to his death and - once police find CCTV footage of him and Kate at the waterfront - the case is closed.
Or so we thought. Fast forward a few weeks and Beth is back in London, dropping her daughter off at Rob's (the pair seem to have split after the revelations of his and Kate's affair).
She discovers a bead from Kate's necklace - the one she wore on the night of her death - in Rob's jacket pocket. After confronting him, she discovers it was actually Rob who murdered Kate and it was him who was pictured in the footage.

But fans were confused, with many wondering how the police could have confused Rob for Pavic.
One person wrote: "Hmm how the security footage convinced the Croatian police that it was Pavic who pushed her onto the rocks when it was George [sic]. They both look so different. Can you explain that?"
While another said: "But how did they miss Rob on the footage?"
And a third added: "Quick question, so somehow the cops didn't realise the dude in the camera hitting and pushing Kate into the water wasn't Pavic but in fact Rob or what?"

Another theorised: "Yeah I think the police said sth like 'we are able to get part of the surveillance camera footage' and the image they showed just looked like a potato quality screenshot of a brunette guy pushing a girl into the water."
The twist certainly shocked viewers, with one person writing: "If you want a good film to watch then Weekend Away on Netflix is sick, so gripping with so many turns."
You can catch the movie on Netflix now.
