Dermot O’Leary was so excited to give some cash away on the latest helping of This Morning, he nearly bankrupted the show.
Appearing in the popular ITV magazine show alongside his usual co-host Alison Hammond, the presenter, 48, was hosting the Dosh on the Doorstep segment – but accidentally offered a touch too much dosh.
Watch the video below.
Speaking via video link to Josie Gibson, Dermot was looking to unveil the next winner of Dosh on the Doorstep: a game which sees Josie give viewers a cash prize by turning up at their house.
Returning to Josie, Dermot announced: “We're hoping that she's gonna walk away with £10,000 today in today's game of Dosh on your Doorstep!”
However, Alison was quick to step in to correct her co-presenter’s error.
“No! It's only £1,000 today, it's not £10,000! You're giving away too much money!" she said, interrupting Dermot as he misspoke.
Laughing off his faux-pas, Dermot joked: “I said £10,000! Well, we're all hoping that!”
Quick to egg Dermot on, Josie chuckled: “You’ve said it, you’ve said it now, Dermot!”
Easily done, Dermot!
Alison and Dermot are at the helm of This Morning this week; while they usually only host the Friday morning edition of the show, they’ve taken over from usual presenters Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, so the pair can enjoy an extra long Christmas break.
A and D have proven popular on the programme, however, and have been at the heart of several hilarious viral moments.
More recently, viewers at home were left in hysterics when the duo interviewed comedy legend Barry Humphries (better know as Dame Edna).
Mid-interview, Barry stopped to congratulate Dermot on his “courage to come out” – pretending to mistake him for Schofe.
“I think a lot of people respected you for that,” Barry said, as Alison cackled in the background.
