We’ve heard of a few quirky phobias in our lifetime (for the record, we’re not too keen on spiders), but one bizarre fear really took the biscuit on today’s This Morning.
The show’s resident therapists Nik and Eva Speakman appeared on the ITV programme today to do a phone-in with people about their biggest phobias.
However, one caller’s fear left Philip Schofield and his co-host Rochelle Humes in hysterics – and it left viewers in tears of laughter too.
Watch the video below.
Caller Michelle has such a visceral fear of custard (yes, the stuff you put on apple pie), that she physically gagged whenever the word was even uttered live on air.
Her retching noise made Philip collapse into one of his now infamous giggling fits, with Rochelle also trying to hide her amusement in front of the camera.
Having to only refer to custard as the yellow stuff, Eva explained to the caller: “You and the yellow stuff are on the same team, here. You’re both victims of the person who forced you to eat it in the first place.
“You think badly of it and it did nothing wrong!”
However, Philip could barely hold it together, and he wasn’t the only one as viewers also found the moment side-splitting.
Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: “I didn’t want to laugh as I feel sorry for that lady not liking the yellow stuff as I personally love it on apple pie but the noise did make me laugh.”
A second agreed: “Comedy gold!” and accompanied their tweet with a gif of Jim Carrey gagging from his role in Dumb and Dumber.
“This was hilarious poor lady, but I would of said the word more [sic],” joked a third, and a fouth said: “Love this, so funny. Great to see Philip gets the giggles with Rochelle and he does with Holly.”
We can always count on This Morning to cheer us up!
