Avril Lavigne has called off her engagement with Mod Sun less than a year after he described her as 'the one'.
Avril sent fans into a frenzy in April 2022 when she shared an adorable series of photos showing Mod Sun, whose real name is Derek Ryan Smith, down on one knee in Paris.
The 'Sk8r Boi' singer showed off her heart-shaped engagement ring and later described the proposal as 'perfect' and 'romantic', but Avril has apparently since changed her mind about marrying Mod Sun.

Representatives for the singer confirmed to Page Six that the engagement is off after sources first shared the news of their split.
"Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together as a couple," one person with knowledge of their relationship told People.
The pair were last seen in public together at a pre-Grammy event in Los Angeles.

It's unclear what led to their breakup, but representatives for Mod Sun indicated that Avril had neglected to share news of the split with one very important person - Mod Sun himself.
Speaking to Page Six yesterday (21 February), a rep claimed: "They were together and engaged as of three days ago when he left for tour so if anything has changed that’s news to him."
Mod Sun, who is also a singer, is currently on tour and has not indicated any plans to put things on hold.
“The show will happen tonight and tomorrow and for the rest of the tour,” his rep added.

It's unclear what led to the split, but People's source said there was 'absolutely no third party involved'.
Avril and Mod Sun met in January 2021, the same month they released a collaborative single titled 'Flames'.
After sparking up a romance, they announced their engagement last year with an Instagram post in which Mod Sun said he knew Avril was 'the one' on the day they met.

"Together forever til our days are done. I had a dream where I proposed in paris. I pulled out a ring + asked you to wear it... I grabbed your hand + took one last breath… I said 'will you marry me?' + she said 'yes'," Mod Sun wrote.
Avril previously told People she and Mod Sun had a 'very strong unstoppable connection', adding: "He made every day better. It was like I had known him forever. As time went on, things kept getting better, and it felt incredibly natural."
Tyla has attempted to contact representatives for Avril Lavigne for comment.
