In an emotional pre-recorded interview with fellow Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan ahead of her return to the panel on Tuesday, Brenda spoke publicly about the tragic death of her son.
Speaking about the tragedy, Brenda said that she is currently "doing okay," and "taking each day as it comes."
"It was sudden and it was unexpected and he went into a cardiac arrest and he passed with me holding his hand," she said.
"I get a little bit of comfort knowing I was there" she added.

Jamal had left details of what he wanted for his funeral, or as Brenda calls it his 'homegoing.'
"He was born in Luton, we went back to Luton and had his homegoing there.
"Everyone wore blue or white, the music was there, he had live entertainment. It was really really lovely."

"When we laid him to rest it was really beautiful. We looked up at the clouds and there was a jay."
Brenda also credited her fellow panellists with helping her through this tough time: "It has been great, having the ladies there.
"That is something that has been a big part of my life and the kids’ lives. I need to return."
The 53-year-old also discussed how the announcement of her son's passing was "taken away" from her, as it was reported on social media before she had a chance to tell people.

The singer said she found this particularly difficult - but did take some solace in the face that she was able to ensure that his 'homegoing' was exactly as he wished.
Earlier this year Brenda confirmed the news of her son’s death in a statement shared with Good Morning Britain: “It is with the deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness. Myself, his sister Tanisha and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated," she wrote.
“He was the centre of our world. As we come to terms with his passing we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss.
