Shakira fans have slammed Gerard Pique as ‘xenophobic’ after he was said to have hit out at his ex-wife's fanbase.
The couple, who were together for 11 years, eventually parted ways back in June 2022.
At the time, the 'Hips Don't Lie' singer broke her silence on the situation, calling it 'the darkest hours of my life'.

However, Piqué recently sparked outrage after speaking on a Kings League Infojobs Twitch stream, where he talked about the Colombian star's fanbase, saying 'they have no life'.
He said: "The issues that I have been through since last year, with my ex-partner being Latin American… I mean, you don't know what I've come to receive on social media from people who are her fans, but damn, I don't care about any of it, really.
"It’s zero, zero because I don't know them at all. These are people who don’t care about you, and they’re there but they have no life.

"And what importance do they have? That’s zero. You will never meet them in your life, they are like robots. I treat it like it is, you know."
And Shakira fans have since branded his comments as 'xenophobic'.
One person tweeted: "Did Gerard pique, a Spanish person, just insult Latin Americans because he’s hurt over some nasty comments from people online?

"Also, it’s not only Latin Americans who have been defending shakira, the rest of us have too. He’s just coming off as xenophobic."
Another added: "Ok now #gerardpique is #xenophobic towards Latin Americans. He is really a crazy, worthless dude."
While someone else penned: "I swear to god that pique has such an audacity.. like imagine being that racist and xenophobic to the mother of your kids who'd literally put her international career on a pause just to take care of her family and pique turns to cheat on her.... "
"Cheater and xenophobic Gerard Piqué." another commenter added.

Even Shakira herself seemed to respond to his comments, tweeting yesterday (3 April) in Spanish: "Proud to be Latin American" along with various Latin American flag emojis.
Tyla has reached out to Piqué's and Shakira's representatives for comment.
Since the breakup, Shakira has released two songs, which are speculated to be about the break-up with the retired ex-footballer. In October 2022, she released her first song, titled 'Monotonía'.

The Spanish lyrics read: "It wasn't your fault, it wasn't my fault / It was monotony's fault / I never said anything but it hurt / I knew this would happen.
"Suddenly you were no longer the same / You left me because of your narcissism / You forgot what we were one day."
Then at the start of the year, she dropped monster hit 'BZRP Music Session #53' featuring Bizarrap, where she seemingly name-dropped Clara Chia Marti, who is romantically linked to Piqué.
She sings 'claramente' in the pre-chorus, and fans think she's saying 'calara-mente'.
"I'm worth two 22-year-olds / You traded in a Ferrari for a Twingo / You traded in a Rolex for a Casio."
Later on in the song, Shakira sings that there are no 'hard feelings' but insists they are never, ever getting back together.
