Lizzo's 'iconic' Glastonbury performance has people saying she should have headlined

Lizzo said she was 'so moved' by the fans for their reaction to her 'iconic' Glastonbury performance.

Lizzo's Glastonbury set was so good that it's making people think she should have headlined.

Well it was Guns N’ Roses who took this year's main slot at the iconic festival, with the original line-up of Axl Rose, 61, Slash, 57, and Duff McKagan, 59 - who reunited in 2015 - taking to the stage on Saturday evening (24 June).

However, earlier on, US pop star Lizzo absolutely killed it with her performance, which included themes of diversity, inclusivity and body-positivity.

While on stage, she reminded fans how far they have taken her in her journey.

Lizzo told the audience that her first gig at the world-famous festival was in 2018, and took place in a small tent with 'nobody there'.

Finishing a rendition of her hit song 'Truth Hurts', she told crowds: “I’m just so overwhelmed.

“Last time I played this festival was 2019, and I was like ‘man, I’m doing big s**t, because the first time I played this festival was 2018 – in one of those big tents.

“Nobody was in there.

“But me and my DJ… we kept playing, and we played our hearts out, and now I stand before you and I’m so moved.”

Expressing further gratitude to her fans, Lizzo said: “I want to say thank you Glastonbury for having me and putting me on this stage.

“I want to say thank you all for being here – your time means the world to me. It’s very important that I let you know that.”

She then launched into her Grammy award-winning hit 'About Damn Time' to close the set.

Fans were amazed by her performance, with many calling her to headline the festival in the future.

"Lizzo needs to headline a festival she’s so f**king good," one viewer tweeted.

Another added: "One thing is clear - Lizzo can easily headline the pyramid stage, bigger crowd than Arctic Monkeys."

Someone else said: "looool whoever said lizzo isnt headline quality, or size needs to get their [head] out of the clouds, that was phenomenal, with a huge crowd. thats how you do it."

Before singing 'Special', she told crowds: "I want everyone now to say I’m special.

"Look at your neighbour and say you’re special. In case nobody told you today Glastonbury, you’re special.

Lizzo later took up her flute to assist with a performance of her song Coldplay, telling crowds that the British group was 'one of my favourite bands'.
