Selena Gomez has hit back at trolls who post unwanted comments about her body, weeks after calling out body shamers following her appearance at the 2023 Golden Globes.

The chart-topping pop star and actress sat down for an intimate chat with thousands of her fans where she opened up about her medications and how it affects her weight.

On Thursday (16 February) Selena explained that her weight fluctuations because of her lupus medication, which can cause her to 'hold a lot of water weight'.
The 30-year-old also said by opening up she hopes to encourage others to embrace their beauty regardless of what other people say about their appearance.
“I just want people to know that you’re beautiful and you’re wonderful,” she gushed. “We have days where maybe we feel like s**t, but I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself.”
The Rare Beauty cosmetics founder added that even though her medications may cause some side effects, she's grateful she has them.

"My medications are important and I believe they are what helps me," she explained to her fans.
"I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through and nobody knows the real story.
"So, yeah, not a model, never will be. And I think they’re awesome, mind you, I’m just definitely not that."

She ended her TikTok live with a final touching message to her beloved fans, saying: "I just wanted to tell you I love you guys.
"Thanks for supporting me and understanding, and if not, go away, ’cause honestly, I don’t believe in shaming people for [their] body or anything."
The Only Murders in the Building star revealed her lupus diagnosis in 2015. Lupus is a long-term condition that causes joint pain, skin rashes and tiredness. There's no cure for lupus, and symptoms can flare up and down.
Symptoms include inflammation of different parts of the body including the lungs, heart, liver, joints and kidneys.

Last month, the singer attended the 2023 Golden Globes where she was nominated for Best Television Actress - Musical/Comedy Series for Only Murders In The Building.
She revealed that she had received abuse from online trolls regarding her physical appearance while posing for cameras on the red carpet outside of the event.

She addressed them head on in an Instagram Live while chatting with her nine-year-old sister, Gracie Elliot Teefey.
On her Instagram account, Gomez told followers: "I'm a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays."
