As Love Island begins its reign on our TV screens this summer, some people are asking why we never see the Islanders eating dinner.
After all, one of the greatest scenes in Love Island history was Curtis Pritchard’s insistence that he didn’t want to cuddle because he wanted to make everyone coffee.
TikToker and self-confessed Love Island connoisseur Will Njobvu asked: “Have you ever wondered why we always see the Islanders cooking breakfast but we never see them having dinner, having lunch?

“One of my friends who went on Love Island two years ago told me why.
"Apparently, they do have full catered meals - I’m talking roast chicken, salmon, roast dinners, rice, everything. But that’s not captured on camera.”
The TikToker then said he didn’t ‘blame them for not airing that’ because ‘I don’t think I want to see the Islanders eating.’
He joked: “I bet you any money certain Islanders eat with their mouths open.”
Reacting to the revelation, one TikTok user wrote: “I’m glad they give them privacy to eat too.”

A second agreed, writing: “Good they kinda give them privacy ig [sic].”
A third wrote: “And also some people are insecure about lots of people [watching] them eat.”
Meanwhile, a very observant fan of the show insisted that he had seen the Islanders eating.
They wrote: “We have seen them eat before, you can see kem and Amber eating after they came back from a date [sic].”
However, it turns out that dinner time isn't just a chance to give the Islanders some rare privacy, as revealed by former Islander Kady McDermott.

She told Cosmopolitan that "producers would come to change [their] mic batteries [during dinner]."
She said: "That's why dinner is never filmed or you don't see anyone eating hot food."
The former Islander, pictured below, added that the food was delicious.
"The food tasted amazing," she said. "They used to give us a dessert after every lunch and every dinner, and the cake was unreal, and we could request food if we wanted."
As well as opening up about the Islanders' eating habits, TikToker Njobvu explained what happened to the smoking area, which was a drama hotspot in earlier seasons.

“One of my friends who was in the winter series of Love Island told me that yes, they do still smoke,” he revealed. “But they’re not filmed when they’re doing this.
“Because they’re not filmed when they’re smoking, they can’t talk to anyone around them about any of the storylines going on in the show in case anything develops and they’re not on camera and the drama’s not captured.”
This prompted one viewer to write that the show is ‘quite strict’.

That's also reflected by former contestant Andrea-Jane Bunker’s revelation that the Islanders are only allowed two drinks a night, with a considerable gap in between, as reported by CapitalFM.
This is so that no one gets drunk on national television.
But as dinner comes with the lesser risk of messy eaters being exposed, is it something that you’d like to see on the show? Let us know in the comments!
