Adam Lambert reveals drastic weight loss as he shares what happened when he switched from Ozempic to different drug

Queen and American Idol star Adam opened up about his weight loss on a recent live stream

Adam Lambert has revealed his dramatic weight loss and confirmed it wasn't thanks to Ozempic.

A whole host of celebrities have been showing off a slender figure of late, with many fans and critics assuming their drastically different appearance is down to the hugely popular diabetes drug Ozempic.

Queen singer Adam has now confirmed he actually switched drugs from Ozempic prior to his transformation which has seen him shedding almost 60lbs in weight.

The American Idol star looks very different in recent photos of him leaving a TV performance, which left fans asking what his secret has been.

Now, the singer has spilled all during an Instagram Live.

He told fans: "I'm dropping some tea on you guys right now. I've been on Mounjaro for the last I think, what, eight months?"

The type two diabetes and weight loss medication has been growing in popularity on social media, with plenty of those who claim to have used it raving about their results.

Hitting back at critics, Adam said: 'I feel amazing. I still eat, but I eat lighter, and I eat less, and I know that there's a lot of chatter about 'Oh, you're taking it away from diabetes patients'.

"I mean, quite frankly, that's the pharmaceutical industry's issue, not mine. They need to keep up with production."

What is the difference between Ozempic and Mounjaro?

Ozempic is used to treat type two diabetes - it is not a legitimate weight-loss management drug and is not FDA approved for this use. The medication works by enhancing insulin secretion but lowers glucagon secretion to lower a person’s blood sugar levels without risking hypoglycaemia, a dangerous condition which can cause seizures.

Mounjaro contains tirzepatide, which is a little different from Ozempic as it's a medication which has been recently approved for weight loss management as well as diabetes.

Talking about the difference the drug has made to his health, Adam praised the results.

The singer said he was originally prescribed Ozempic to help him regulate his blood sugar, and said the weight loss was a bonus. However, he experienced severe side effects and couldn't carry on.

“When I switched to Mounjaro, a lot of those symptoms went away and I had hardly any side effects and I feel incredible,” he said.

“I feel better, I feel more confident. I feel like my actual body feels better, like my digestive system feels more regulated.”

Not only that, but he also said his mental health has benefited hugely too.

Back in 2009 he opened up about his struggles with his weight throughout his life.

He told Sirius Radio that he weighed 250lbs in high school, and how that impacted him: “That creates some stuff … some body image stuff, some confidence issues."

He also told Ok! Magazine. "When I was in high school, I had bad eating habits. I lost probably about forty pounds about ten years ago.

"'I ate a bunch of c**p – a bunch of fast food and stuff. I learned more about what's healthy and what's not healthy. I used a little bit of self-control."

Adam explained that losing the weight has had multiple benefits: "Physically I felt better, but I also had better self-esteem and body image."
