Amy Schumer has opened up about the 'red flag' side effects she experienced while taking Ozempic, after she prompted other celebrities to 'be real' about their experiences.
The comedian has been very open about her weight loss journey, but has called out others who perhaps aren't being so honest.
Schumer has previously admitted to using Ozempic, a drug used to treat type 2 diabetes, for the purposes of losing weight - but noted that the experience wasn't a wholly positive one.

Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, the mum-of-one spoke about what made her stop using the injections, as she started to notice 'red flags' as a result.
She said: "I tried Ozempic almost three years ago, and I was like, bedridden.
"I was like, vomiting — and then you have no energy. But other people take it and they’re all good. God bless them."

Explaining the predisposition that may have made the side effects worse, she added: "I have this gene, GDF15, which makes you extremely prone to nausea, which is why I was so sick during my pregnancy."
But Schumer documented just how tired she became while using Ozempic - something that isn't openly spoken about.
"You’re like, ‘Wait a minute. Can we slow down?," she added.
"I tried it and I was vomiting and I’m in bed and my son’s like, ‘Can you play tag?’ I’m like, ‘I can’t.’ I was shrivelling."

The actress noted that the drug left her so exhausted that she was questioning herself.
She explained: "I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow, so what’s the point?"
But despite being so honest with those that may look up to her about how she shed the weight, Schumer has called on other celebrities to be just as honest.

In a June 2023 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she brutally said that people had been 'lying' about their weight loss methods.
She said: "Everyone’s like: ‘Smaller portions'.
"Shut the f*** up. You’re on Ozempic, or one of those things.
"Just stop - be real with the people."

It's important to note that Ozempic's primary use is to treat type 2 diabetes - not for weight loss.
It does this by increasing the insulin production within the body, decreasing glucose production by the liver, and in turn slows down digestion.
