Anya Taylor-Joy once admitted cruel comments on social media upset her so much when she was younger it forced her to steer clear of mirrors.
28-year-old Anya has been a dominant Hollywood force since her breakthrough in Robbert Eggers’ The Witch in 2015.
Since cementing her place in the entertainment industry, the actress, who was born in Miami but raised in London and Buenos Ares, has gone on to star in Peaky Blinders, The Menu and even made a surprise cameo appearance in Dune: Part Two.

Before all that though, in 2016 Anya was playing a supporting role in M. Night Shyamalan’s Split.
In the psychological thriller, she portrayed Casey Cooke - one of three women kidnapped and imprisoned by a man named ‘Dennis’ (played by James McAvoy).
But as the trio spends time with Dennis AKA Kevin Wendell Crumb, they begin to realise that the man suffers from dissociative identity disorder.
In an attempt to escape, they try to manipulate his alters ‘Patricia’ and ‘Hedwig’ before Casey eventually comes face-to-face with ‘The Beast’.

It’s fair to say that Split isn’t for the fainthearted but in 2016 W-Magazine praised Anya’s performance and wanted to know all about her dramatic rise to fame.
During the interview, the reporter discussed the Emma actress’s appearance and claimed that her eyes were ‘beautiful’ before adding: “They’re so far apart.”
"When you were a kid, did they make you self-conscious?," the reporter continued.

In response, Anya revealed she’d previously received criticism for her looks and that she remembered a particular incident which occurred on social media.
"I can definitely remember when Facebook was a thing and I was never aware that my eyes were far apart and then someone tagged me in a picture with a fish and they were like, 'This is you 'cause your eyes are like here’,” she recounted.
"And I was really upset about it and I didn’t enjoy it and I kind of stopped looking in mirrors for a very long time.”

Anya went on to admit that in 2016 she was still uncomfortable with viewing her face and still didn’t spend much time in front of the mirror.
Furthermore, she admitted that her eye placement had affected her ability to play sports.
"I will say though that it’s interesting in sports because I became very aware that when I was smaller, my head was a lot more compact and so my eyes really were on both sides of my face.
"It became common knowledge in the playground that if you wanted me to catch a ball, you had to throw it at the side of my head ’cause if you just threw it straight here, I’d just be like, 'Oh, my God. What? What happened? What’s going on?'”

However, she admitted that the older she’s got, the more she has grown into her unique features.
She told the reporter that over the years, she became ‘a bit less awkward’.
“Though I’m still growing a lot. I’m still getting taller – I grew like two inches last year,” she added. “I don’t really know what to do with all of my limbs.”
