Anya Taylor-Joy has admitted she felt self-conscious about her eyes when she was younger.
The Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga star is one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood today, following her big break in Robert Eggers' The Witch back in 2015. She went on to star in Peaky Blinders and reunite with Eggers on The Northman, as well as having a cameo in Dune: Part Two.
Most recently seen in sci-fi romantic horror The Gorge opposite Miles Teller, Taylor-Joy isn't immune to online abuse about her appearance.

Back in 2016, when Anya was promoting M Night Shyamalan's Split, W Magazine asked the actress about her eyes, with the reporter pointing out they were 'so far apart' and quizzing the star about whether she felt self-conscious.

"I can definitely remember when Facebook was a thing and I was never aware that my eyes were far apart and then someone tagged me in a picture with a fish and they were like, 'This is you 'cause your eyes are like here’,” she answered.
Taylor-Joy shared she stopped looking at herself in the mirror after being on the receiving end of unkind comments.

"And I was really upset about it and I didn’t enjoy it and I kind of stopped looking in mirrors for a very long time,” she said.
The star also explained that her eye placement would pose a problem when she was a kid and playing sports in school.

"I will say though that it’s interesting in sports because I became very aware that when I was smaller, my head was a lot more compact and so my eyes really were on both sides of my face," she said.

"It became common knowledge in the playground that if you wanted me to catch a ball, you had to throw it at the side of my head ’cause if you just threw it straight here, I’d just be like, 'Oh, my God. What? What happened? What’s going on?'”
However, she admitted that the older she’s got, the more she has grown into her unique features and became ‘a bit less awkward’.
Taylor-Joy isn't the only female star who has been forced to address negative comments on their appearance.
Sex Education and The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood has recently weighed in on comments about her teeth, which have become one of her most distinctive features.

According to Wood, her teeth have been stopping her from playing American characters.
"It’s the teeth. Like, no Americans have my teeth. They just don’t," she said during the February On Demand Entertainment interview. "I’d have to get veneers. Because… I think that genuinely is like one of the things."
