Stevie Nicks had a pretty no-nonsense response to Katy Perry when she asked about who her 'rivals' were.
The 76-year-old Fleetwood Mac star, who have sold over 120 million records worldwide, opened up about her thoughts on the sometimes 'rancid' music industry.
Namely, Stevie expressed her frustration with women being pitted against each other when it comes to the spotlight.

In an interview with Rolling Stone published yesterday (24 October), Stevie looked back on her career and shared her thoughts on how different things would have been if Fleetwood Mac was made to 'endure' social media.
"It would’ve been terrible," the 'Rhiannon' hit-maker confessed. "We never had terrible paparazzi.
"Our fans always really honoured us and treated us with care. Nobody chased us down. It was all fun. It was never terrorizing. It was never stalking. It was never weird. I couldn’t live like that."

Stevie also recalled a supposed encounter between her and the 40-year-old 'Teenage Dream' singer 'about 10 years ago'.
She continued: "Katy Perry was talking to me about the internet armies of all the girl singers, and how cruel and rancid they were.
"I said, 'Well, I wouldn’t know because I’m not on the internet'."
Katy then allegedly queried the music icon on how she knew who her 'rivals' were if she wasn't plugged into social media.

Recalling her response at the time, Stevie claimed: "I just looked at her. It was my steely look.
"I said, 'Katy, I don’t have rivals. I have friends. All the other women singers that I know are friends. Nobody’s competing. Get off the internet and you won’t have rivals either'."
Absolute words to live by.

Stevie also previously spoke about the supposed encounter to The New Yorker back in 2022, claiming that she told the singer: "You are Katy Perry, you’re who you are, you do what you do and you’re great at it. I’m Stevie Nicks, I do what I do and I’m great at it. We don’t have rivals. That’s just ridiculous."
And it's clear other people think so too with many fans rushing to social media to share their praise for Stevie's refreshingly real outlook on the industry.
One X user agreed: "It’s true tho although I feel like the media and outlets would still pit women against each other."

"Unironically this is what Stevie Nicks' music makes me feel like I suddenly don't need to be on social media and just need to twirl around," penned another.
I'll second that.
A third gushed: "Leave it to Stevie Nicks to drop wisdom like it’s nothing."
"And now that's a good lesson to learn from Stevie Nicks," applauded a fourth, while a fifth echoed: "Stevie Nicks for the win *puts on Rumors, dances around the kitchen*."
Another said: "Stevie just unlocked the secret to inner peace."
And a final X user added: "Women supporting women, girls supporting girls - it's so overdue."
No truer words spoken.
