A source told People: "It was obvious on the set from early on ... they were very sweet to each other and often seen laughing together."
They added: "Everyone just thought they were both happily married though and didn’t expect them to end up dating."
Sources have also claimed that the two didn't embark on a romantic relationship until their respective marriages were over.
In the family photograph, Slater can be seen stood at the back, near Grande.

In an interview with TooFab, Grande's brother, who works as a dancer and actor, shared: "I love [Slater], he's a very sweet guy. I've been a fan of him ever since seeing him in SpongeBob [the musical].
"And I got to interview him when I was doing the SpongeBob SquarePants podcast. And the Broadway community is a tight-knit family."
He continued: "He's a great guy. Ethan's a wonderful guy."
The supportive brother then went on to add that his main concern is his sister's happiness - which he feels she has now received tenfold.

He added: "[Slater] is very sweet. He's very very very sweet. I just, I adore him. I, honestly I've always just said this, all I want is for my sister to be happy and when she's happy I’m happy. So I'm very happy."
He went on to share the moment he found out Grande would be playing Glinda in John M. Chu's cinematic adaptation of Wicked.
He recalled: "She actually came to see me in a show and she pulled me aside and told me and both of us hit the ground, on the floor, weeping. Like it was as dramatic as ever as you could possibly imagine.
"It was a beautiful moment and all of the moments since then, you know, have just been absolutely magical, magical! No pun intended."
