Celebs Go Dating left viewers in shock as Vanessa Feltz, who is looking for love in the new series, didn’t hold back after a guy she went on a date with shared lukewarm feedback.
The long-running E4 dating show couples up famous people with regular members of the public, who must spill all the juicy details from the date to experts Paul C. Brunson and Anna Williamson.
In Thursday’s episode (24 August), it seems no one was expected the savage remarks from fishmonger Richard, who compared his day out with Vanessa to ‘pulling teeth’.

Yikes!
During the feedback session, which was done in front of Vanessa, Paul, Anna and the other celebs in the 2023 lineup, Richard said the date was ‘quite hard work’.
He also urged her to open up more when on a date and claimed that Vanessa checked her phone on numerous occasions during the dinner, which he called ‘a bit unbecoming for someone like yourself’.

Usually, the television personality and This Morning star is the one dishing out advice and not only did she hit back at Richard’s remarks, she also casted doubt about them.
With reference to the late Queen Elizabeth II, Vanessa replied back: “As the Queen famously once said, ‘Recollections may differ’.”
The Queen’s rare statement, which was issued on her behalf by Buckingham Palace, was actually ‘recollections may vary,’ and was in response to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In an interview with the crew, Vanessa declared: “Why am I taking psychological advice from someone in the smoked salmon business!”

Now let’s not go too hard against someone who could give us endless smoked salmon, Vanessa!
Later on, she said: “How bloody dare he! I am furious. I am quietly fuming on the inside.”
So, it’s fair to say that Vanessa and Richard weren’t able to connect on a romantic level.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant started phubbing Richard - that term refers to when someone looks at their phone while on a date - as he started speaking about his love of football.
“I’ve completely glazed over,” she confessed to viewers. “I’m thinking, ‘Have I defrosted the freezer? Should I get round to lagging the loft?’ and ‘How soon can I go to bed?’”
Vanessa told Richard that she was searching for a partner who was ‘exciting and dynamic’. She eventually left the date only after finishing half of her dinner.
The agony aunt recently re-joined the dating scene following her split from her partner of 16 years, Ben Ofoedu, 51, after multiple cheating allegations emerged against him.

Ofoedu later admitted in an interview with the Sunday Mirror that he had ‘broken her trust’ and confirmed he'd had sex three times with another woman.
