Christy Carlson Romano says she was shot in the face while celebrating her husband’s birthday.
In a video posted to Instagram on Saturday (8 February), the former Disney Channel star explained that she and her husband Brendan Rooney went shooting in Texas. The date took a horrific turn when someone in another party ‘unsafely fired in the wrong direction’ and shot me in the face’.
“So I got shot in the eye, it was not fun,” she says at the start of her Instagram video. “I am safe.”

The Even Stevens and Kim Possible star, 40, showed what appeared to be a wound underneath her eye with some bruising. While speaking to her 740,000 followers, Romano said that ‘it’s still inside’ her face and showed other parts of her face which contained ‘fragments’.
She explained that there is a fragment lodged behind her eye that is ‘too risky’ to remove surgically at this time, adding that she can currently ‘see normally’.
Romano added: “I’m very grateful to first responders as a whole. I mean, they’re just the most amazing, superhero people to take care of us at our most desperate times.
“This is really bad tonight. Everything’s kind of clearing out, but I got to say I got shot in the face and lived to tell the tale.
