Eva Longoria has opened up about her ‘privileged’ decision to swap a ‘changing’ United States for a blended life in Spain and Mexico with her young family.
49-year-old Longoria is a ninth-generation Texan who describes herself as a ‘producer and director who fell into acting’.
After cutting her teeth as Isabella Braña on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless, the star has gone on to portray iconic characters like Desperate Housewives’ Gabrielle Solis and direct the Academy Award-nominated flick, Flamin’ Hot.

Away from her wild on-screen success, Longoria is a mother-of-one who moved to California in her twenties.
She is also a strong supporter of the Democratic Party and used her platform to vocally endorse Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 US presidential election.
Longoria, who is viewed as a power broker for women and Latinos in Democratic Party politics, spoke at the Democratic National Convention and hit the campaign trail earlier this year on behalf of the Democratic candidate.

Following Harris’ loss to Trump earlier this month, Longoria - who has been involved with Democratic candidates since at least 2012 - has opened up about how ‘scary’ she believes America will become under a Trump administration
The country ‘is a scary place,’ she told Marie Claire. “If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place.”
The French magazine’s November cover star also revealed in the interview that she, her husband José ‘Pepe’ Bastón and their six-year-old son Santiago no longer reside in the US.

She insisted that it’s a ‘privilege’ to be able to split her time between Spain and Mexico, remarking that America had ‘changed’
“I had my whole adult life here,” she told the publication. “But even before [the pandemic], it was changing.
“The vibe was different. And then Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge. Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to sh**t on California—it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now.”

“I’m privileged,” the Heartbreak Kid alumna admitted. “I get to escape and go somewhere.
“Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”
Longoria currently has nine upcoming film and television credits, according to IMDB.
These include a duo of festive flicks, Marvin Lemus’ Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip and Dead Guy with Judy Greer and Michael Shannon.
