Australian footballer Sam Kerr has announced her engagement to girlfriend Kristie Mewis, saying she is her 'everything'.
The pair went Insta-official back in August 2021, when Kerr posted a photo of them kissing, with a red heart emoji in the caption as she tagged Mewis.
It followed romance speculation after they went up against each other in the Tokyo Olympics – Kerr playing for Australia, and Mewis for USA – sharing a tender moment on the pitch after the American side landed bronze, with Mewis sitting on the field with Kerr and hugging her in consolation.

They then recently sparked engagement rumours after eagle-eyed fans spotted a number of clues on social media – including photos from Kerr’s 30th birthday in early September, in which Mewis appeared to deliberately hide her left hand on purpose, possibly to avoid revealing a ring.
In a promotional video for EA Sports’ FC 42, Mewis was sporting a large diamond ring on her left hand, with Kerr later posting a photo on Instagram also showing a ring on her wedding finger.
The couple have now revealed they are, indeed, set to tie the knot, having confirmed the happy news to US outlet people.

Gotham FC midfielder Mewis, 32, said her partner is her ‘everything’, detailing how supportive she’d been throughout her time in the National Women’s Soccer League.
Mewis said it was ‘tough’ when her team came in last place in the 2023 World Cup, but was grateful for a support system behind her in the form of her parents, sister and fiancée - the latter of whom she said has ‘just been everything’ to her.
"My biggest supporter, always listening to me nag and complain all, all of my crazy antics," Mewis said.

Back in 2022, the duo spoke about how they make their relationship work, having had to rely on technology as they navigated long distance love.
Mewis told Gaffer: “It is difficult of course just being away from each other but we have FaceTime."
She added: “Being in New York is really good because I can kind of just pop over if I get two days off.”
Kerr said they ‘set little milestones’ to make the long distance relationship work.

“We make time during the week where we’ll watch the same show and FaceTime or have dinner together or something,” she said.
“But it's tough.”
Kerr went on: “I think the thing that keeps us going is that we can see an end point. We both just want each other to do so well in our careers.
“I don't think you could be in a long distance relationship with someone who didn't get the sport. She fully gets it and I get it. So we just support each other.”
