Goldie Hawn's son, Oliver Hudson, has spoken out after she revealed her heartbreaking health condition during her appearance at the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday (2 March).
The 79-year-old Cactus Flower star bravely shared an update on her health with fans while on stage with Andrew Garfield, 41, presenting the gong for Best Animated Feature Film which went to Flow by Latvian filmmaker, Gints Zilbalodis.
Fans watched on as Hawn had to stop halfway through her speech because she was unable to read the teleprompter as she told the audience: "I was so lucky [to] make movies... and making people laugh. And maybe some didn't, but that's OK."
"In the meantime..." Hawn continued, before stopping and turning to her co-presenter and going off-script. "OK. Sweetheart, can you read that? I can't read that."

The Oscar-winner then said: "I'm completely blind. I mean, I am," before revealing that she was suffering from cataracts.
According to the NHS, cataracts occur when the lens - a small transparent disc inside the eye - develops cloudy patches.
Over time, these patches become bigger causing blurry vision and can eventually lead to blindness.

Cataracts can affect people of all ages but are most common in older people, with age causing the breakdown of proteins in the lens.
After her admission, the Spider-Man actor calmly responded: "OK, I've got you," before continuing the award presentation.
Since then, Hudson - who followed in his mother's acting footsteps - has since taken to social media to share a statement following Hawn and Garfield's sweet interaction.
He took to Instagram on Monday (3 March) to post a snap of his mum and Garfield holding hands along with the caption: "This was so touching and unexpected.

"Andrew that was beautiful my man. I cried, I laughed, I swelled with pride and then became concerned that my mom was now gonna love Andrew Garfield more than me..."
Hudson then joked: "I’m still not sure where I stand. She hasn’t responded to my texts so… @goldiehawn."
Carrying on the light-hearted banter, Hawn later commented: "I’m sorry I didn’t answer your texts honey, I was talking to Andrew!!!"

Elsewhere during their Oscars appearance together, Garfield shared the incredible impact Hawn's acting had on his late mother.
The actor, who lost his mum Lynn to cancer in 2019, thanked Goldie for giving her 'the most joy, the most comfort' through her TV and film performances.
"Can I tell you something?" he asked at the start of their presentation.
"There's someone, there's a person who gave my mother during her life the most joy, the most comfort, and tonight, I feel very lucky, because I get to thank that person from the bottom of my heart.
