Meghan Markle has candidly opened up about the miscarriage she suffered in a recent episode of her brand-new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder.
The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex first disclosed her miscarriage in a New York Times article published a few years back and later discussed it in her debut Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan, and has previously shared the one heartbreaking symptom she experienced at the time.
And, in her latest podcast episode, which saw her speak to American lawyer and politician Reshma Saujani, Meghan explained that she had to 'learn to detach' after suffering the miscarriage in July 2020.
In the NYT personal essay, published in November of that same year, Meghan recalled feeling a 'sharp cramp' and dropping to the floor with her and Prince Harry's first child, Prince Archie, in her arms.

"I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second," the mum-of-two wrote. "Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few."

In this week's Confessions of a Female Founder podcast, Meghan, approaching the sensitive topic carefully, asked Reshma if she was 'comfortable talking about it', adding: "I've spoken about the miscarriage that we experienced, and I think in some parallel way, you have to learn to detach from the thing that you have so much promise and hope for."
She continued: "And to be able to be OK at a certain point to let something go, something that you planned to love for a long time."

In the podcast's debut episode, the Duchess also revealed she had suffered from postpartum preeclampsia - something which the Mayo Clinic defines as 'a serious condition where high blood pressure and excess protein in the urine develop after childbirth, potentially within 48 hours but sometimes up to six weeks later'.
Speaking to Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder of the dating app Bumble, Meghan talked about her experiences of being a mum and revealed she suffered from a 'huge medical scare' after giving birth.
"We both had very similar experiences," she said, "though we didn't know each other at the time - with postpartum, and we both had preeclampsia. Postpartum preeclampsia. It's so rare and so scary."

She added: "And you're still trying to juggle all of these things, and the world doesn't know what's happening quietly.
"And in the quiet, you're still trying to show up for people - mostly for your children - but those things are huge medical scares."
