They say that 'life imitates art', but for actress Jennifer Aniston, it was sadly the other way round when she was forced to portray a character trapped between her divorcing parents whilst filming Friends.
Whilst her on-screen persona of Rachel Greene was shown to be in her mid-twenties when her beloved mom and dad called it quits, Jennifer was aged just nine when her parents - fellow actors John Aniston and Nancy Dow - went their separate ways.

What many fans of the actress don't realise, however, is that Jennifer's parents' divorce had a huge impact on her life in the years to come.
So much so, that the TV icon has only opened up about the difficulties she faced in her early-teenage years on a handful of occasions, in conversations with press which tend to become emotional.
One of the very few times that the now 55-year-old Friends star has discussed her turbulent upbringing was during an interview with the Wall Street Journal last year, during which she confessed that her parents' split has affected her own relationships.
"It was always a little bit difficult for me in relationships, I think, because I really was kind of alone," she previously told the publication.

The We're The Millers favourite has been divorced twice throughout the duration of her time in the spotlight - once from ex-husband Brad Pitt, to whom she was married between 2002 and 2005, and once from former flame Justin Theroux, who she was wed to for three years are tying the knot in 2015.
Speaking of her double-divorce, the told the publication: "I didn’t like the idea of sacrificing who you were or what you needed, so I didn’t really know how to do that.

"So it was almost easier to just be kind of solo. So I didn’t have any real training in that give-and-take."
It wasn't just Jennifer's romantic relationships which she seemingly took a hit when he parents called it quits.
In her mother Nancy's autobiography From Mother and Daughter to Friends, the mum-of-two opened up about their pair's fragmented partnership, after which a heartbroken Jennifer went without speaking to her for almost a decade.

In 2005, however, she revealed that they'd made up, with her divorce from Pitt sparking the mother-daughter duo to rekindle their relations, before Nancy died following a stroke in 2016.
Despite her parents' allegedly bitter divorce, Jennifer grew up on great terms with her father, who himself was famed for playing Victor Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives, and regularly credited him for supporting her throughout her journey industry.
After Jon was awarded the Daytime Emmys Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022, the actress told him whilst she presented him the accolade: "This is truly a special moment for me.
