JK Rowling was once forced to apologise to fans over one particularly controversial Harry Potter plot twist that she admitted she made for 'personal reasons'.
The 59-year-old British author, who has recently been named in a lawsuit filed by Olympic gold medallist Imane Khelif, is behind all seven books - and subsequent films - in the main franchise.
Now, I'm sure Potterheads are all familiar with the three main characters; Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and - of course - Harry Potter.
The books were filled with action, spells and a whole bunch of chaos down at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry but readers were also treated to a bunch of romance drama.

Throughout the years, we've seen the three main characters have several love interests but, arguably, the most shocking relationship to blossom was that of Hermione and Ron given their immediate lack of suitability.
Now, in the epilogue to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which is set 19 years later, it's revealed to readers that Harry tied the knot with Ron's younger sister, Ginny Weasley, and shared three kids togethers while Ron and Hermione ended up together in the end with two children of their own.
Rowling explained the reason behind the coupling, given that many die-hard fans of the book series were hoping to see Harry and Hermione shacking up instead of Ron.

Back in 2014, the author apologised to readers who their heart set on a Harry-Hermione coupling - even admitting herself that Hermione may have been happier with the titular character.
"I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfilment," she said in an interview with Wonderland magazine, previewed by the Sunday Times.
She continued: "That’s how it was conceived really.

"For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron."
Rowling even apologised for the turn of events, adding: "I know, I’m sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I’m absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility.
"Am I breaking people’s hearts by saying this? I hope not."
