Justin Bieber fans slam 'disrespectful' reporter after 'unacceptable' Selena Gomez question in front of wife Hailey

Justin and Hailey Bieber are currently expecting their first child together

Thousands of Justin Bieber fans rushed to the singer's defence this weekend after he and wife Hailey were asked a 'disrespectful' question referencing his ex girlfriend Selena Gomez by a reporter.

The couple are currently expecting their first child together after announcing the exciting news with a sweet Instagram video earlier this year.

In a clip which has since gone viral online, the 'Baby' hitmaker and Hailey could be seen leaving a restaurant in Los Angeles when they were unexpectedly confronted by a team of reporters and paparazzi.

"Justin, will your child be called Emory Bieber?" the journalist then asked, leaving Justin seemingly shocked.

Hailey could also be seen looking in the way of the reporter, who went on to tell the musician: "You know what I'm talking about."

The journalist then pushed at the couple again, asking Justin, 'Have you forgotten her?', before they could be seen escaping into the back of a minibus.

Now, if you're unsure as to what the journalist was referencing with their baby name comment or how it relates to Justin's ex Selena, allow us to fill you in.

In an interview recorded during Justin and Wizards of Waverley Place star's eight year relationship, the now exes were asked by a member of the public what they'd name their future child.

"I like Emory," Selena, now 31, admitted at the 2010 press conference. "Which is E-M-O-R-Y. Insert my husband's last name, Yeah, 'Emory Bieber.'"

Selena and Justin first went official back in 2011, before calling it quits in 2018.

Justin went on to tie the knot with Hailey back in 2018, exchanging vows in a low-key courthouse ceremony in lower Manhattan, before announcing their pregnancy in May this year.

And Selena has a new relationship with music producer, Benny Blanco, who she's been dating since 2023.

Naturally, Justin's fan-base have swarmed around the couple during what is supposed to be a happy and relaxing time of their lives, slamming the reporter for his remark.

"Celebrities are people with high profile jobs but they’re just people," one hit out on Instagram over the weekend. "What’s the point of this level of disrespect in front of his wife? Justin showed more restraint than most of us would."

Another penned: "Damn… that’s messed up by that person. Smh… they need to stop with the Justin and Selena train. That was years ago. Imagine Hailey’s feelings at that moment as well…."

"He moved on and so has Selena, paparazzi need to get a life and move on too," a third continued.

"Let Justin and Haley live their life peacefully and enjoy their marriage and pregnancy geez."

A fourth said: "So disrespectful."

Tyla contacted Justin and Hailey's representatives for comment.
