Rapper Lil Pump has sparked major backlash online after sharing an edited photo of Selena Gomez crying over Donald Trump’s executive orders.

Lil Pump, real name Gazzy García, has seemingly poked fun out of Gomez for her recent Instagram post last Monday (27 January), which saw her crying at the news that Trump planned to deport millions of immigrants.

In his inauguration speech (20 January), the 78-year-old - who happens to be the first person convicted of a felony to assume the presidency - announced his plans to 'halt' all 'illegal entry' into the US.

"And we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came," he continued, just days before also announcing his intentions to end birthright citizenship for the children of undocumented immigrants.

Trump also announced plans to deport millions of immigrants.

Gomez was subjected to a fair amount of backlash after sharing a tearful video of herself responding to a series of Trump's new executive orders, many of which centre on immigration rights.

In the clip, the 32-year-old - who is a third-generation Mexican American - broke down crying while discussing the new president's immigration plans.

"All my people are getting attacked, the children," she said.

"I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise."

Unfortunately for the Only Murders In The Building star, her video inadvertently sparked criticism subsequently leading to her removing the video from her Story.

Shortly after, she shared a message on her Instagram story, reading: "Apparently it’s not OK to show empathy for people."

Since then, Lil Pump - who comes from Colombian parents - took to Instagram himself and accused Gomez of 'crying for no reason'.

And the 24-year-old didn't stop there as he also shared reportedly AI-generated images of Gomez in tears while he smiled.

Lil Pump, who has previously been very vocal about his support for Trump on social media, captioned the snap: "She crying for no reason.

"I’m happy bc Trumps back."

Gomez's fans have taken no time to call out the rapper for the stunt, with one X user hitting out: "Notice how he had to use AI because she’d never be near him."

Another added: "No one cares what Lil Pump thinks."

A third chimed in: "Very weird behaviour."

"This is so weird…" echoed a fourth.

"What? So disrespectful," added a final X user.

Tyla has contacted representatives for Lil Pump for comment.
