Cooper Koch, who stars as Erik Menéndez in Monsters, has revealed the sentimental reason why he wears a wedding ring despite not being married.
Eagle-eyed fans had spotted the star wearing what appeared to be a wedding ring, but there was no evidence to suggest he had gotten married.
The Monsters actor opened up about secretly wanting to confuse people, when he addressed the bizarre jewellery placement on an episode of Sirius XM's Andy Cohen Live.

Koch explained that he started wearing the ring just before he accompanied his brother to the Emmy Awards, as he was in need of some accessories to go with his outfit.
He explained: "We were getting ready and I didn't have any jewellery on.
"And I was with my boyfriend and we went into my room and I was looking through my jewellery, and I had this ring that was my grandfather's, and I was like, 'Oh, I should just wear this ring,' and then we just like put it on my ring finger and it just kind of became this little like, I don't know, romantic, protective mechanism."

Adding about the public's reaction, he said: "I just wanted to like trip people out a little bit and see what they would say."
Despite this symbol on his finger, his boyfriend chooses not to wear a similar ring.
However, Koch ensured people knew that he is still 'very much committed to me' as he is to him.

He smiled, and said: "We have talked about that, and we do need to get him a ring, but it's really more of just like a nice totem."
Koch shot to fame this summer, after portraying the role of Erik Menéndez in the nine-part Netflix series, which has since come under fire.
Both the real Erik and Lyle Menéndez have slammed the show for not representing their story in a true sense.
Despite playing the part, Koch has come forward to say he 'stands' with Erik.

Talking to Variety, he said: "[Erik’s reaction] definitely affected me and it made me feel things.
"I sympathize with him, I empathize with him. I get it.
"I understand how difficult it would be to have the worst part of your life be televised for millions of people to see.
"It’s so exposing. I understand how he feels and I stand by him."
