We all knew that Nicola Coughlan was an absolute queen, but she’s out-Coughlaned herself with what might be the most iconic response to comments on THAT infamous nude scene.
The star went centre stage in the latest season of Bridgerton, which focused on the romance of Penelope and her beau Colin.
Mid-way through the series, fans were sent into overdrive when they landed upon the much-anticipated mirror scene, that turned out to be just as hot and heavy in the Romancing Mister Bridgerton novel, written by Julia Quinn, from which the season was adapted.

The now-famous mirror scene features Penelope undressing slowly in front of Colin and a mirror so he can admire her body before they have sex for the first time, as he takes his opportunity to tell her she is beautiful.
Viewers were in full agreement, with many praising Coughlan for her ‘bravery’ when it came to stripping off in the poignant sequence.
But the actor has hit back at such comments in a new interview with Time, having had to field markedly different questions from her co-star Luke Newton while promoting the show earlier this year.

In response to being called ‘brave’ for taking the role, Coughlan fumed: “Don’t call me brave. I have a cracking pair of boobs. There’s nothing brave about that, that’s actually just me showing them off.”
She continued: “I’m a few sizes below the average size of a woman in the U.K. and I’m seen as a ‘plus-size heroine’.
“[...] I worked my arse off for that show. I barely saw my family and friends, and people were just going, ‘But your body …’”

Coughlan understands such remarks were intended as compliments, but she found them anything but.
"I don’t take it as nice,” she explained.
“Making it about how I look is reductive and boring. What if I was suddenly going to play a ballerina and lose a s**t ton of weight, are you not going to like me anymore? That’s insane and so insulting.”
After the interview was published, fans were full of praise for her 'iconic’ comments.

“EXACTLYYY CLOCK IT MOTHERR,” one tweeted, with another agreeing: “I’m actually obsessed with her.”
Someone else said: “Louder Queen! That's why I love this girl so much.”
A fourth wrote: “Ok iconic.”
Another added: “What a queen to even respond to these comments with such class.”
