Robert Pattinson made his feelings very clear about Twilight saga with brutal comment about creator

The actor who starred as Edward Cullen in the franchise opened up about what he found so 'weird' about it

Twilight is arguably one of the biggest film franchises out there and its legacy is still going strong even a decade after the final movie, Breaking Dawn Part 2, hit cinemas back in 2012.

The film series sky-rocketed the careers of Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, but it's clear the cast weren't as obsessed with the flicks as the avid fan base (still) are.

In fact, the latter once made his feelings very clear about the Twilight saga with a brutal comment about Stephenie Meyer - AKA the author behind the beloved book series.

In a throwback interview with E! Online, the 38-year-old Batman star opened up about his initial thoughts when he first read the books and exactly what he thought was 'weird' about it.

"When I read it, I was convinced that Stephenie was convinced she was Bella," he claimed.

Robert continued: "It was like it was a book that wasn’t supposed to be published, like reading her - her sort of sexual fantasy."

"Especially when she says that it was based on a dream, and it’s like, 'Oh, I've had a dream about this really sexy guy' and she just writes this book about it," he carried on.

"Some things about Edward are so specific, I was just convinced that this woman is mad, she’s completely mad, and she’s in love with her own fictional creation."

The actor also admitted he sometimes felt 'uncomfortable' reading the material, adding: "I think a lot of people feel that it kind of is voyeuristic and creates this sick pleasure in a lot of ways.

"But then it introduces a lot of the action elements and it's very honest. It's really, really honest and that's kind of what's weird about it."

And this is far from the only time Robert's spoken out against Twilight, as he once revealed he'd actually 'hate' it if he didn't star in it.

Speaking alongside his co-stars Kristen and Taylor in a Moviefone question time, the Hollywood A-lister didn't hold back about his thoughts and openly admitted to being 'judgemental' over the film.

"The people who don’t like it are generally people who haven’t seen it, and they’re like all judgmental and stuff, and cynical people," he began before laughing.

"But I think I am a judgemental and cynical person who would just mindlessly hate it without ever having seen anything."

Well, at least he was being honest!
