Ryan Reynolds praised after hilariously trolling Blake Lively’s co-stars in surprise interview

The actor trolled wife Blake Lively during an unconventional press junket for her forthcoming film, It Ends With Us

Ryan Reynolds is being adorned with fan praise following a surprise interview which showed him lovingly trolling his wife, Blake Lively.

36-year-old actress Lively plays the starring role of Lily Bloom in forthcoming film It Ends With Us, based on the best-selling novel by Colleen Hoover.

She is, of course, married to 47-year-old Deadpool & Wolverine actor Ryan Reynolds, with the two tying the knot back in 2012.

They share four children together, and are noted for their public displays of humour and love towards each other on social media.

Ahead of the release of It Ends With Us later this week, Reynolds has starred in a shock mock-interview alongside Lively's co-star, Brandon Sklenar, who plays her character's love interest Atlas Corrigan.

Reynolds, as himself, asks Sklenar: "I saw you posing in a photo with Mrs. Reynolds, do you guys have a nickname or something?"

Sklenar says: "No," to which Reynolds, full steam ahead, says: "Anyway I saw this photo... it was pretty suggestive. I got it right here, I'm gonna get right to it. How do you explain that?"

He then gestures to a close up photo of Sklenar's backside.

Reynolds adds: "Is it genetics? Do you have some kind of low angle, squat routine to pop that region in that way? What's going on here, man? Are you smuggling pumpkins... Jesus Christ, my heart is beating like crazy right now. Kinda reminds me of when I went on that meth journey... confronting my inner child."

Sklenar then reasons that surely Reynolds means the hallucinogenic drug, ayahuasca, rather than meth before tentatively asking: "Ryan... you wanna take a break?"

Reynolds cheekily quips: "From Blake? Sure."

After the break, Ryan's mother then appears, and mentions Reynolds sadly lost his father in 2016.

Carrying on the almighty trolling, Reynolds then asks Sklenar to blink once if he 'wants' to be his new dad, or blink once if he'd 'love' to be his new dad.

Reynolds then exclaims: "He blinked! He blinked!"

Social media has been rife with positive reaction following the unexpected but hilarious exchange.

One person wrote: "This is hilarious! Ryan Reynolds is becoming the king of movie marketing."

As another said: "This is the kind of advertising that will get me to watch this movie."

And a third added: "I laughed out loud like eight times. I wish @blakelively would have shown up in a disguise or something. So great. @VancityReynolds is the best thing Canada has ever produced and they created maple syrup."

It Ends With Us will release in UK cinemas on 9 August, 2024.
