Powerful reason Shania Twain will 'never hate' ex-husband Robert 'Mutt' Lange after he had affair with her best friend

Powerful reason Shania Twain will 'never hate' ex-husband Robert 'Mutt' Lange after he had affair with her best friend

The 'Man, I Feel Like A Woman' singer claims she harbours no resentment towards her ex

Despite the heartbreaking triple-whammy she endured back in 2008 - after discovering that her beloved husband was having an affair with her life-long BFF - Shania Twain refused to allow her relationship history to dictate her future.

So much so, that to this day, the country music star even credits her cheating ex with having given her a fresh start in the world of romance, and in turn, permitting her to meet Mr Right.

When the 'That Don't Impress Me Much' singer broke the news that she and her husband of 15-years, Robert 'Mutt' Lange, many of her devoted fans were saddened by the prospect that their favourite celebrity power couple had simply grown apart.

Within a matter of weeks, however - just a few years after the pair welcomed their son Eja, now 22 - it became apparent that the 'other woman' in Shania's relationship was none other than her near and dear gal pal, Marie-Anne Thiébaud, leaving her fan-base further shell-shocked.

In recent years, however, Shania has proven she's a bigger woman than many of us, after revealing she was able to forgive 'Mutt' for his infidelities.

'But how?', I hear you ask.

Well, maybe the fact that the mum-of-one went on to marry Marie-Anne's ex husband, Frédéric Thiébaud helped her to mend her broken heart.

I know, talk about another plot twist.

Speaking on Jamie Laing's Great Company podcast, the singer previously explained: "Forgiveness is in the family of letting go. But forgiveness, more specifically for me anyway, is not about forgetting necessarily.

"It's about understanding the other person, and that might mean that they're wrong."

Asked where she and ex-hubby Robert's relationship now stands, she continued: "So do I hate my ex -husband for making a mistake? No. It's his mistake. Not my mistake.

"It's really unfortunate for him to have made such a big error that he has to live with. And I don't know what that feels like, but it's not my burden to bear."

Since the double-split, the two newly-formed couples have remained happily loved-up, with Shania having previously credited her divorce with having brought her to her current love, Fred.

During an appearance on Armchair Expert, she opened up: "[I saw] how gracefully and graciously he was dealing with navigating the same pain."

Gushing over her partner, she went on: "Fred's so smart. This is one of the smartest people I know, [and] he didn't know [about the affair] either. That helped me feel better. I got what I deserve. I got the greatest man on the planet."

Thankfully, however, Shania and Robert have no issue with co-parenting their son, with the singer opening up on their regular communication.

"Mutt and I parent well together - for people who don't talk to each other. We'll just text," she said.

"We both adore our boy so much, we never play any mind games. Eja is our top priority; we make shared arrangements for him. There's no fuss there."
