Simon Cowell has shared the reason why he doesn't use a mobile phone and people are perplexed.
The music mogul might be renowned for being so forward thinking he played a huge hand in propelling One Direction to global stardom - but it turns out he's pretty analog when it comes to his handheld devices.
Any dreams you may have had of Simon Cowell scrolling through fan-cams on TikTok at 3am like the rest of us have just been shattered.
Cowell opened up about his lack of phone - iPhone, Android or otherwise - while chatting to Robert Bruce and Shayna Marie on Capital XTRA Breakfast.

He was flat-out asked whether he uses a mobile phone, to which he bluntly responded: "No".
Robert quizzed: “In 2024? You do not have a mobile phone?”
Refusing to be shaken, he responded again: "How come?"
It's hard to imagine one of the ultra-rich living without a mobile, but there we go.

So, as for the reason why... well, it's probably not quite what you think.
He said: "It’s like walking around with a toaster. In other words, they’re boring. Or an iron."
Robert said: "Like a meaningless object?" to which the X-Factor star responded: "Yeah. It’s a thing, you know, which you use at home."

When quizzed on how he keeps up to date with the latest social media, he said he just checks it at home - but didn't elaborate whether he used a laptop, for example.
Marie jumped in to ask: "So like, when you’re out, you don’t need people to call you? Or like, you’re checking your maps, or you know, City Mapper? Or an Uber?”
Cowell, proving to be a man of an emphatic few words on this radio show, just responded: "Nope".

He went on to say he lives in a kind of 'bubble', adding that it's 'sort of not knowing what is ever happening unless it’s important'.
Marie chimed: "Oh, your life is nice". And we have to admit, it does sound rather peaceful.
As for the rest of us who are glued to our phones, Cowell suggested we should try out his way of life for a while, 'even just do it for a month'.
Musing on the discoveries of the morning, Robert concluded: "Every time I get my phone out of my pocket I’m going to think of a toaster now."
