Why Travis Kelce didn't attend Grammys with Taylor Swift

The 'Anti-Hero' singer was seen at the Crypto.com Arena sitting with Wicked singer Cynthia Eviro and The Substance actress Margaret Qualley

Taylor Swift's favourite night of the year has finally rolled back around - that's right, it's the 2025 Grammy Awards.

Despite being nominated for a staggering six accolades tonight (2 Feb), tonight's festivities may prove somewhat bittersweet for the 'Cruel Summer' singer, being that she's without other-half Travis Kelce.

But where exactly is the NFL star? And what could have been so important that it prevented him from attending his girlfriend's big night?

As we say, this year's show will likely be a special one for Taylor Swift, who could be on track to break her own record for the most Album of the Year wins - something she achieved last year with accolade No. 4.

Her track 'Fortnight' with Post Malone is also up for three Grammys, and she's nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Grammy for her 'Us' with Gracie Abrams.

Earlier his evening, the musician headed to Downtown Los Angeles for the festivities, where she was seen on the red carpet donning a sparking hot-red mini dress which paired perfectly with her lengthy golden locks.

However, in a sad rarity, Taylor is tonight without her sportsman beau - who is usually seen by her side during high-profile events and star-studded ceremonies.

The 36-year-old was instead seen sitting alongside Wicked actress Cynthia Erivo, and star of The Substance Margaret Qualley.

Apparently, though, Travis had warned Swifties for a while that he wouldn't get a chance to appear at the Crypto.com Arena due to his bustling American football schedule.

Following an impressive victory against the Buffalo Bills last weekend (26 Jan), the 36-year-old tight-end secured himself and his Kansas City Chiefs teammates a spot in next weekend's Super Bowl finale.

Travis will take on the San Francisco 49ers in just a matter of week, and naturally, need all the practice they need.

So, really, we can't beef him too much.

Later on tonight, Taylor will go head-to-head with the likes of gal pals Sabrina Carpenter, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Cardi B and Chappell Roan in the 'big four' categories - Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist.

Sabrina Carpenter has already won the first Grammy of 2025 in the Best Pop Solo Performance category for her feel-good hit, ‘Espresso’.

And following a very Brat summer, Charli XCX has bagged the likes of the Best Dance/Pop Album, and Best Dance/Pop Song for her lead single Von Dutch – both marking her first ever Grammys as a solo artist.

Doing it for the boys, Kendrick Lamar has also been awaited three consecutive prizes already – Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance and Best Music Video.
