Whoopi Goldberg defends Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez after unexpected reunion left fans in disbelief

Whoopi Goldberg addressed J.Lo and Ben Affleck's blended family outing last week

Following the shock public appearance of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck last week, Whoopi Goldberg has weighed in with her own opinion.

J.Lo filed for divorce from husband Ben Affleck last month on 20 August, two years to the day of their lavish Georgia ceremony.

The 'Get Loud' singer cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce, and listed the date of their separation as 26 April, 2024.

With J.Lo making headlines after posting a carousel of images suggesting she's ready to move on, the duo were spotted on a blended family outing on 14 September.

Page Six later reported that J.Lo and Ben were spotted 'kissing' and 'holding hands' during the day out.

With everyone having their say on the dynamic between the pair, Sister Act's Whoopi has decided to lay down the law.

During an episode of The View, upon which she is a co-host, Whoopi said it must be 'hard' for the couple as people cast their judgements.

She added: "It is very difficult, because people like us sit around and we judge it. Maybe we just say, ‘Oh, how nice [that] they’re hanging out together.”

She continued: “Because the kids hear all of this. People see all of this. And it is very difficult to figure out what’s going on in somebody else’s relationship.

"I’m assuming they went out because [their] kids wanted to go out, and everybody was doing their thing. And if you’re happy with your family, then you’re affectionate with them. … It doesn’t mean you’re going home with them again.

"It just means I’m not so mad at you that I can’t sit across from you."

Following the outing, a body language expert told Tyla what she drew from their interactions.

Inbaal Honigman, speaking on behalf of Slingo, said: "Jen is behind Ben rather than side-by-side, which could suggest that she's letting him take the lead.

"During their relationships in the past, Ben and Jen have always walked in-step, meaning striding at the same pace, keeping up with one another.

"When seen in the wild - shopping or casually strolling, their steps have always matched. This is a sign of natural compatibility, togetherness and respect."

She continued: "Neither one rushes ahead or falls behind. Whenever they're observed off a red carpet, their expressions, styles and strides match.

"This pair on a red carpet, is when their differences are highlighted. But here they appear true to form, similar and attentive to one another."
