Mimii and Josh have been crowned winners of Love Island 2024

Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan stole the hearts of the nation during this year's ITV2 series

After eight long weeks, the crowning couple of the summer 2024 instalment of Love Island has finally been revealed.

That's right - ITV2 presenter Maya Jama finally announced which of the four remaining couples had stolen the hearts of the nation, and would be receiving their share of a colossal £50k cash prize.

And this year's Love Island champs are none other than the lovely Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan.

It's been a series with more head-spinning plot twist, jaw-dropping revelations, shock dumpings and blazing rows that we could keep track of.

Producers blessed viewers with a baptism of fire during the first episode by revealing that former TOWIE star Joey Essex would be joining the line-up as a celebrity bombshell, and from that moment on, we've hardly been able to predict what bosses had in store.

In the weeks that followed, we welcomed a whole host of newbies - including fan-favourite Uma Jammeh and Joey's ex Grace Jackson - and said goodbye to some original cast members, like Ronnie Vint, Harriett Blackmore and Samantha Kenny.

Casa Amor saw several boys being led astray, namely Wil Anderson, Sean Stone and Ayo Odukoya, whilst the girls went into meltdown mode.

And following a dramatic recoupling, hearts were broken, ties cut and fingers pointed.

That said, the strongest couples - primarily Uma and Wil, and Sean and Matilda Draper - were thankfully able to see the light at the end of the Casa tunnel.

Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies even dropped the 'L' bomb and went official with their romance.

On the other hand, the public simply didn't buy new romances between Jess White and Hugo Godfroy, and Trey Norman and Ellie Jackson, and sent them packing early.

We saw the infamous Snog, Marry, Pie challenge set the cat amongst the pigeons, and a visit from the islanders' families caused quite a stir for Jess Spencer and Ayo, after his brother claimed he suited former flame Mimii Ngulube much better - even though she'd already made a match with Josh Oyinsan.

Eventually, the carnage and chaos cooled between the islanders - until Monday night's episode saw all eliminated islanders return to the boujee Mallorcan villa in a bombshell reunion, which saw them each vote for a couple they believed was the least compatible.

The axed stars' majority vote meant that Joey and his partner Jessy Potts narrowly missed out on a shot to reach the reality TV hit's long-awaited finale.

This meant that Sean and Matilda, Ciaran and Nicole, Ayo and Jess, and Josh and Mimii were left with a chance to take the top spot during tonight nail-biting final.

As per the usual Love Island tradition, the fourth place couple were announced first as Jess and Ayo.

They appeared upbeat about their positioning, however, and claimed they couldn't wait to get into the outside world to enjoy their first official date.

Next up, landing in third place was Matilda and Sean, who claimed they couldn't be happier for their finalist pals.

And as we say, after a tense drumroll, it was revealed by Maya that Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan had been voted by the general public as this year's winning couple, leaving Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies as the 2024 runner's up.

Congrats, guys!
