Adele has broken fans' hearts with a devastating admission made during a recent show in Munich, Germany.

The 36-year-old singer, who has been performing in Munich but is also currently in the midst of her Weekends with Adele Las Vegas residency, has been taking time out in between songs to talk to her fans.

The Las Vegas shows have been well documented on social media, with each night holding a capacity of 100,000 fans.

On 31 August, the 'Hello' singer took a break during her show to tell her swathes of adoring fans that she has 10 shows left in Vegas, but after that they won't be seeing her for 'an incredibly long time'.

The reason for the hiatus is that the singer wants to enjoy her life.

She said: “I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it now."

Adele could be seen starting to well up as she continued: "I want to live my life that I’ve been building and I will miss you terribly.”

She went on to explain that the Munich shows were meant to conclude her live performances for a while, but as a result of the Las Vegas being postponed after they were first announced, they were going to be the final shows for a while instead.

Adele addressed the crowd: “But after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time. And I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break."

Adele, who is a Grammy-award winning artist, also shared that she was unlikely to commit to show runs as long as her Las Vegas or Munich residencies ever again.

Following the release of her album, 30, in 2021, she shot to even higher levels of fame than she'd managed to reach before.

The beloved album gave us the tracks 'Easy On Me' and 'I Drink Wine', among others.

The album won won the Brit Award for British Album of the Year at the 2022 Brit Awards.

This historic achievement made Adele the first solo artist in history to win the award three times - having previously won for her albums 21 and 25.

Reacting to the news, one fan wrote on social media: "This is basically a retirement letter she’s gone FOREVER y’all this is so depressing wow."

Another said: "She already has been taking long hiatus for like 5 years and then returns back with absolute masterpieces."
