Bridgerton fans spot significance of Penelope and Colin’s wedding colour theme

Fans have noticed the detailed colour choices made for Penelope and Colin's wedding

Eagle-eyed Bridgerton fans have spotted the significance of the colour themes that were chosen for Penelope and Colin’s wedding.

The creators of Bridgerton never fail to hide secret meanings in and amongst episodes for viewers to dissect.

It’s a clever tactic for us to watch that little bit closer - as if we weren’t glued to our screens with it already!

In the latest season, despite it not being the wedding that either Penelope or Colin had envisaged, he insisted at the time that he was only going through with the marriage because he is a man of honour.

Plus, they'd already been intimate in a wildly racy sex scene that sent fans crazy.

A shouting match broke out the night before the wedding between the friends-turned-lovers, which naturally led to a steamy make-out session.

The wedding went ahead the following day, and observant fans of the show have noticed that there is a significant meaning to the colour choices that were made.

And we’re not just going crazy - executive producer Jess Brownell confirmed in an interview with Glamour that the colours were carefully picked out to reflect the families.

The church scene featured pale yellows, blues, and greens, as a supportive Portia Featherington walked her daughter down the aisle in a pale off-pink silk gown.

Colin nodded to his wife-to-be, and it was a kind of reassuring look that implied despite their mishaps, the two would get through it.

Their aisle song of choice was ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay, an obvious nod to the Featherington family's yellow palette - and something Penelope is certainly no stranger to.

Talking about Penelope’s dress, Jess said: “Our costume designer John Glaser designed a very simple silhouette for Penelope, that was in some ways a nod to her being this powerful career woman.

“She is not super fussy in that moment. It's a very strong silhouette.”

One fan who noticed the thematic colour choices took to Reddit saying: “Did anyone spot how Portia is wearing Bridgerton blue and Featherington green in her wedding outfit?

“The cake too is green and blue. And there is a tiny blue petal on Pen's veil as she walks down the aisle. Even the sisters have bits of blue in their outfits.

“I love these little details.”

Another fan replied, saying: “I’ve also spotted how Pen’s dress is green in the shadows of the Dankworth-Finch ball, and Blue when she steps into the light. Another amazing costume choice or me reading too much into this stuff as per usual??”

Producers must be made up that the detailed choices never fail to be noticed by viewers!
