Horror movie fans have had their pick of the mix when it comes to brand new additions to Netflix lately.
That said, however, there's an utterly bizarre new blockbuster that was added to the streaming service's roster last week which has left viewers' absolutely traumatised - in a good way, though, apparently!

Titled Under Paris, those who haven't yet had a chance to sink their teeth into the foreign film hit might suspect it centres on the allegedly haunted catacombs that lie underneath the city.
Instead, however, the story follows a group of scientists working in the 'city of love' who are forced to reach out to an ex-marine biologist named Sophia after discovering that a colossal shark has found its way into the Seine River as Paris is planning to host the World Triathlon Championships in the river.
It might sound like one big cheese-fest, but according to a lot of viewers, it holds a candle to celebrated shark movies like Jaws.
If our description peaks your interest, then perhaps the trailer will too:
"Under Paris is such a blast and absolutely rips from start to finish! Highly recommend if you’re a shark movie lover," one fan said, while another described it as being 'exactly what you expect'.

Despite the initial high praise, however, some had a bone to pick with the film's ending.
"That movie Under Paris on Netflix was good 8/10 I just hateee how it ended smh. But I can tell it’s going to be a part 2 because of the ending … well atleast I think it will be [sic]," one hit out.
While someone else went on to say: "Under Paris is good but I wish Netflix would stop releasing films with no ending, it’s really getting on my t*ts".
Following the backlash, however, Netflix have now spoken out about the film's controversial conclusion.

Big spoilers ahead.
Taking to Tudum, the streaming platform explained that the movie ends in a way that leaves the door open for a sequel - with lead shark Lilith and her self-producing brood of killer sharks making their way around the rivers around the world, having been spurred on by the bloodbath that broke out in Paris.
"Paris is submerged, overtaken by seawater, trash, and sharks. During the end credits, we’re shown a map detailing how Lilith and her kin will take over every waterway — first London, then New York, Bangkok, Venice, Tokyo, and eventually the entire globe." they said.

But why I hear you ask? Well, perhaps it will make us think about the impact we have on the environment.
"If we don’t take better care of Earth and its inhabitants, killer sharks will replace us all." Netflix writes.
