ITV viewers left divided over BGT’s Amanda Holden’s ‘inappropriate’ finale dress

ITV viewers left divided over BGT’s Amanda Holden’s ‘inappropriate’ finale dress

Amanda Holden is no stranger to wardrobe-related controversy

Viewers of the Britain's Got Talent finale are taking to social media to discuss Amanda Holden's dress choice.

The talent show came to an end last night (2 June) with singer Sydnie Christmas being crowned as the well-deserved winner.

It followed weeks of up-and-coming talent battling it out in order to secure the crown and a spot performing at the forthcoming Royal Variety Show.

Christmas had been given Holden's 'golden buzzer', an act which secures your place in the live shows upon your first audition.

The 28-year-old singer belted out 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' as her final song which saw her win the contest over rival Jack Rhodes.

While many viewers were transfixed on the final performances, other saw fit to voice an opinion on the judges' wardrobe choices.

Fellow judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli didn't seem to spark a debate, but 53-year-old Holden did.

Dressed in a floor-length sparkling dress complete with a mesh skirt and a low-cut silver armour-style upper half, Holden looked captivating.

The dress was designed by J'Aton Couture, a Melbourne-based couture house that has been serving looks since 1995.

The latest row over her outfit isn't the first time Holden has had to deal with such criticism.

In 2020, the judge and TV presenter sparked over 250 complaints to Ofcom following what many deemed to be an inappropriate outfit.

At the time, she told Tyla: "I dress for myself and I've always dressed for myself and I really enjoy fashion and I'm okay with it is all I'll say.

“I don't lose any sleep over it and I never set out to offend anybody. But I think these days you're unable to not offend - there's no way of winning. So you have to stay true to yourself and wear what you want."

So this latest criticism is likely to be water off a duck's back.

Following last night's broadcast, many took to social media to share their opinion.

One person wrote: "Considering it’s a family show…Amanda Holden wears the most inappropriate outfits!!!"

Whereas others, us included, loved the look.

Another chimed in: "Wow! These women really know how to dress! All week they have looked amazing!"
