Emma Watson recalled moment she fell in love with co-star Tom Felton

Emma Watson recalled moment she fell in love with co-star Tom Felton

Teen crushes are more complicated than adult ones, and I beg you to debate me on this.

There's no way at that time you're going to admit to your crush for fear of being turned down and the humiliation from your peers - god, it's a mess.

However, this seems to be a universal experience for even celebrities, as Harry Potter alum, Emma Watson felt the same way with one of her co-stars, which, according to her, was 'exciting'.

As it turns out, she had a major crush on her co-star Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, during the filming of the first films in the franchise.

However, the Little Women star didn't reveal this bit of information until the premiere of the HBO special, Return to Hogwarts, in 2022.

The documentary, which was released by Sky to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first film of the long franchise, had a little segment on Watson which saw her spill the beans on her crush.

But what was probably the cutest thing about it all was that she still remembered the exact moment she'd fallen in love with him.

Watson explained that it all began after being cast for the film franchise, where they had to spend time together in and out of the set.

Speaking on the doc, the actor began by admitting that it was during a tutoring session on the first film, she found herself looking for his name on the call sheet.

"I walked into the room where we were having tutoring," she explained. "The assignment that had been given was to draw what you thought God looked like, and Tom had drawn a girl with a backward cap on a skateboard.

"And I just don't how to say it - I just fell in love with him."

Let's be honest, as a tweenage girl, I think we'd all find that to be some major 'cool-boy' energy.

"I used to come in every day and look for his number on the call sheet, it was number seven, and if his name was on the call sheet, it was an extra exciting day," she continued. "He was three years above me and so for him he was like, 'you're like my little sister.'"

However, Watson added that nothing 'ever, ever, ever, happened romantically,' but they 'just love each other'.

Unsurprisingly, Felton admitted that he was aware of her crush on him - but instead of acting on it, he became incredibly 'protective over her' and their friendship.

The 36-year-old said: "I think I was in the hair and make-up chair, and someone said something along the lines of, 'Yeah, she had a crush on you.'

"I became very protective over her. Yeah, I've always had a soft spot for her and that continues to the day.

"There's always been something that's like, I don't know, a kinship."

The pals were at the centre of romance rumours for several years, however, both have previously denied the rumours.

Watson had previously dated American businessman Leo Robinton, but the pair reportedly split up back in 2021.

Meanwhile, Felton was in a long-term relationship with stunt assistant Jade Olivia Gordon - who also played Draco Malfoy's wife, Astoria Greengrass, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 - before they broke up in early 2016.
